HOW was UEFT created?

UEFT was created by refining the already successful Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). UEFT focuses on the understanding that your emotions are your guidance system in life that let you know that you are no longer in flow and harmony within yourself or your life.

When this occurs, there is a disturbance to your body’s energy systems, which then impacts on your BodyMind Complex, causing suboptimal health and wellbeing, where your life’s purpose suffers.

UEFT involves using easy to find pulse points, a close, hold and release sequence, the stimulation of three major acupoints which enhances the energy flow for your entire body, and re-framing your emotional issue.

In UEFT, the subtle energies that circulate throughout the body after an emotional disturbance are considered to be the front running cause of disharmonies and disease.

UEFT  is used to assist people with healing fears and phobias, emotional trauma and abuse, panic, frustration, exhaustion and overthinking, sadness, addictions and compulsions. UEFT may also provide a gentle, yet substantial, relief for a wide range of physical symptoms including headaches, pain management and weight.

The History of UEFT

Did you know that Gary Craig simplified EFT from Roger Callahan’s Thought Field therapy (TFT)? Knowing this, it makes logical sense that an acupuncturist, a scientist and doctor of Chinese medicine could further simplify EFT? Yes, it does… and now it can be yours!

The power of UEFT as a healing tool comes from a quantum leap in understanding and by returning its precursor EFT back to it Chinese medicine roots whilst maintaining its rich blend of modern psychological principles and ancient Chinese wisdom.

UEFT takes modern psychological principles and integrates them with energy and Chinese medicine to benefit the mind-body connection. When your body’s energy channels or meridians are balanced via UEFT you are better equipped for emotional healing to occur.

UEFT, short for Universal Emotional Freedom Techniques, is now used by hundreds of people around the world, but few are aware of its detailed and fascinating history. UEFT was first taught in 2012 as part of an advanced bio-energetic healing and personal development system known as FlameTree: the personal development & healing system (www.theflametreesystem.com) and yet its fundamental roots date back thousands of years.

It was through the development of FlameTree that scientific principles, Chinese medicine, EFT and Western understandings e.g. physiology and psychology, were seamlessly integrated into one system in a unique blend that gave rise to UEFT in a way that works by capitalising on the strengths of each different modality.

Traditional Chinese Medicine has a specialised field known as abdominal acupuncture [theory of Shenque (umbilicus) modulation system], that provides the foundation for UEFT.

Acupuncture is part of an ancient healing art that involves the insertion of fine needles, in order to harmonize the energy pathways (meridians) of your body. This practice remains widely used today, particularly in the East and is gaining popularity in the West. The great news for participants of UEFT is that there are NO needles in the UEFT procedure and in this way UEFT has an advantage over acupuncture in that it appeals to people who do not enjoy being pricked!

Two special points from abdominal acupuncture are used to balance the entire 12 regular meridians and in this way UEFT has an advantage over EFT. That is, it is easy to learn 2 points rather than the 9 primary EFT points (and the 4 additional tapping points).

UEFT also incorporates key aspects of EFT, which is sometimes referred to as “emotional acupuncture.” EFT began its development away from acupuncture and toward EFT in 1962 when George Goodheart, a well-known American chiropractor became interested in the possibilities acupuncture could offer his practice. From these principles Dr. Goodheart developed “applied kinesiology” which involved tapping rather than needling meridians.

In the 1970s, Goodheart’s work was furthered by Australian psychiatrist John Diamond, who began treating his patients’ emotional issues with a combination of positive self-statements and meridian tapping. Diamond named his new method “behavioural kinesiology.” This development continued on with American psychologist Roger Callahan who transformed meridian tapping into a distinct form of psychological treatment.

Dr. Callahan who specialised in treating patients who suffered anxiety and phobias, accidently discovered that tapping on strategic combinations of points could produce levels of emotional healing that were impossible to achieve using traditional psychotherapy alone. Dr. Callahan devoted himself to developing specific sequences of acupoints, or “algorithms,” for every type of emotional problem. This method he named “The Callahan Techniques,” but it later became known as Thought Field Therapy (TFT).

Dr. Callahan’s algorithms were not without their drawbacks. A key drawback was that it was necessary to muscle test every patient in order to determine the appropriate tapping points, and this was both time consuming and difficult to do—and certainly not an easy process to teach others. One of Dr. Callahan’s star pupils, Gary Craig, a Stanford trained engineer, independently sought to simply TFT and in the 1990’s he developed his own single algorithm protocol, which he called Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). As history shows it, EFT was to be just as effective as the more complicated protocols of TFT but it had the advantage of being quicker and easier to learn.

Gary Craig simplified meridian tapping and brought it to the masses. Rhett Ogston has continued the evolutionary process that begun with Dr. Goodheart and has created UEFT. UEFT has many advantages over its predecessors, including but not limited to:

NO long complicated algorithm/algorithms

NO long tapping procedures

NO need to remember sequences of acupoints

Hence EFT has been transformed into UEFT, a unique, highly specific and useful tool that can be easily learned by just about anyone, even children!

In the West, efforts are underway to establish UEFT’s legitimacy and credibility as a viable treatment method and we have been using the Harry Edwards Healing Impact Questionnaire developed by Dr Bishop (REF et al, 2000) to facilitate this requirement. We also know that UEFT is based on cutting edge science by scientists like Emeritus Professor Irena Cosic who asserts that the frequency of the meridian system closely correlates with the Nature’s own resonant frequency and that this correlation:

… may indicate relationship between one’s existence and functioning as an integral part of nature and the Universe. It could also help explain the sensitivity of our bodies and mind to changes in the environment and even the universe, which has been used by our ancestors throughout time as a form of spiritual guidance and a form of healing.

This again offers another important validation to UEFT and explains why UEFT has two unique ways of balancing the 12 regular meridian systems that may be responsible for the transformation results that UEFT has achieved.

EFT practitioners and lay tappers alike will tell you that EFT works, however there is only one person trained in the gold standard EFT as well as UEFT and this is their comparison:

“UEFT is a safe, effective and easy to learn technique focused on freeing you from emotional stress. It’s a welcomed progressive improvement to the outdated old technology of EFT. UEFT achieves results every time without the need for tedious tapping. Having been an advanced EFT practitioner since December 2007, I can confidently say that UEFT easily supersedes EFT! Not only is UEFT faster to implement, unlike tapping therapies, there is no chance of interference waves being created. If you are an EFT practitioner, irrespective of your level of training, you need to bring up to date your skills and modernise your current practice! If you are looking for emotional freedom, look no further; UEFT is the solution you have been searching for.”

– Dr George Dellas (Naturopath, Chinese medicine, Homeopath, EFT and UEFT technician)

In time, UEFT is certain to make its way into the Western medicine system—it’s simply too effective NOT to be included. Currently though UEFT stands as one of the world’s best-kept secrets in the pursuit of an emotionally free life. Whatever your beliefs are, whether you are among the self-help mindset or not, we hope you try UEFT for yourself. It just works. Why would you not try it out and at least give yourself the chance to transform your life.
