The Top 5 Fears About Becoming A Healer

As I was chatting with the most recent FlameTree students on their mentor call they were sharing their fears. I noted that they matched the fears of many other students. So we decided to survey all the students and healers that we’ve trained over the years.

What we really wanted to isolate were the mental obstacles at the time they were transitioning from quitting their 9-5 job into becoming a healer and being able to work when they wanted whilst empowering people’s lives.

Here are the top five fears about becoming a healer.

1. Am I Going To Be Good Enough To Do This?

This fear is the companion of transition making. Anytime you make a transition in life this fear will be lurking. Interestingly, this fear is actually a message warning you may not have the skills or capabilities to do what you want to transition to (yet)!

One fantastic attribute about healing, is that it is a soft skill. A soft skill is a skill that can be learned by anyone. We know that we have all learned and consolidated skills throughout our lifetime. In my book the eternal worrier’s/warrior’s smile I discuss the skill of riding a bike. If you have acquired this skill can you recall the first time you tried to ride? It probably did not take long for you to end up on the ground thinking that balancing, moving, peddling, steering and avoiding obstacles is impossible. However, if you have loving teachers like mum, dad or a caregiver present who holds the belief that you can learn and are truly capable of mastering this new skill, and with a little bit of daily practice, you end up riding!

A seemingly impossible task is now a mastered skill that you can use whenever you need.

Learning a new soft skill only takes focused, deliberate, practice and practicing in an intelligent strategic way. When we apply these two things, we can definitely develop the skills of becoming a world-class healer.

So, the short answer to the question, “Can I become a healer? Will I ever be able to be good enough to do this?” is ABSOLUTELY YES!

Provided you put in the energy, effort and time to strategically and intelligently practice in a focused and deliberate manner, you will be a world-class professional healer like any of the other highly paid healers in the industry right now.

2. I Won’t Get Clients

The second fear about becoming a healer arises often and is connected to the third fear (I won’t make enough money to replace my income). During my 15 years as an instructor training students in Australia and overseas I have taught that there are simple yet effective ways to find clients. The training organisation plays a pivotal role in this as does the environment. When the organisation and environment are right for you clients seem to magically appear!

I have been healing for decades now and when I was in my two interstate clinics (Victoria and Queensland) I was performing around 1500 to 2000 hours of healing sessions per year. That equates to over 20,000 one on one healing sessions. When I first started my goal was to have two clinics albeit not interstate! I had my goal but my focus on improving my craft (healing) by focusing on what I doing in the sessions, it made my technique flawless, my sessions faster and as a result my clients enjoyed better outcomes.

It really works. Focus on your craft, your soft skill, and hold a burning desire in your heart to radically and dramatically enhance peoples health and development, everything else falls into place.

I’m not saying there is no place in your new healing business for advertising, business plans, marketing, facebook ads and the like (I hold a Cert IV in Small business and a Cert III in micro business operations) because that would be nonsensical. But all of these factors can be learned at a later date. The priority is acquiring the soft skill and mastering it, that is what leads to everything else.

All crafts are the same, and healing is no different.

If you want clients or want more clients and you are unsure as to how to go about it, get back to basics and revisit the biggest priority in becoming a healer – developing the skill. And as I stated, the right kind of healing course places you in contact with and encourages you to buddy up so that you are not a ‘broken healer’. This also allows you to develop your healing techniques.

3. It Will Take Too Long To Make Enough Money To Replace My Income So I Can Leave My Job

Healing has always been my job and I turned over $250K in one financial year which allowed me to retire from full time practice and write my passion FlameTree. So I have to defer to the experiences of healers who have shared their stories with me.

Maria (not her real name) worked for a telecommunications company and was taking home just under $300K pa. The issue for her was that she was burned out and miserable. Because she had savings in the bank she quit outright despite not having any clients. What Maria worked out though was that she did not have earn the same income. All she had to do was to earn her living expenses and that way she would not eat into her savings and could still live comfortably. This took immense pressure off her mentally and kept her stress levels down and made the goal of transitioning seem more achievable. As it was indicted in her session, her transition was not about the money, instead it was about the people she could help to live optimally and purposefully. So be smart like Maria, work out what you need to live and have that as a clear and defined beginning goal so you can feel confident about achieving your transition from leaving your 9-5 to your purpose of helping others. If replacing your income is the reason why you are quitting your 9-5 and not because you want to assist others to live optimally it would be wise to reassess your situation. When you are certain that the world needs you living optimally and purposefully to assist others then take action.

4. It hasn’t worked for anyone else

If you have kept up with the global market then you know that health is largest growth industry.

Deloittes projects that Global health care expenditures is expected to continue to rise as spending is projected to increase at an annual rate of 5.4 percent between 2017-2022, from USD $7.724 trillion to USD $10.059 trillion.[i]

Yes – there people out there becoming successful healers

Yes -there people out there making a difference

Yes – there are people out there who have already left the 9-5 grind and are earning fabulous income and assisting other people to change their lives

There are literally hundreds of thousands of people the world over achieving this now and there is absolutely no reason why you can’t be one of them.

If however, you have been certified in a healing modality but you’re not enjoying the fulfilment you thought or achieving the impact your desired, don’t worry about that. There are tools and systems that you can use that will definitely allow you to not only get in the game with the many who are already playing but to also play with the big players. I have even written a system that others have used to quadruple their income in their existing health business.

5. My own life/health is a mess… I Can’t Help Other People

The old saying goes don’t put the cart before the horse. The obvious implication is that if you do, you go no where. So don’t put you in front of the client. Just because you aren’t a millionaire doesn’t mean that a healing session wont unlock your clients abundant inner wealth potential.

If we leave health for a minute and use the example of sports and one of my personal heroes who if you watched my STARS series will know is Roger Federer. Well, if I want to play like Roger, I hire HIS coach not Roger. Your clients are not interested in where you are at, they ARE interested in where your other clients are at though.

Your goal as the healer is to achieve results for the client and the system takes care of that allowing them to live their magnificent life.

So, if you haven’t got got all your financial, relationship, emotional ducks in a row yet, it doesn’t matter, all that matters is your ability to practice the system.

The most important thing about becoming a healer is simply using the system, which allows you to help someone.
